Choosing A Marquee

Marquee Hire Choices in Kent.

It is recommended that before you even begin to think about what type of marquee to hire, you first of all give some consideration to the following: 1) Your budget for the event. 2) The number of people you are intending to invite. 3) The nature (or type) of event that you are planning. 4) The place the event will be held.

1. Budget

Although for some of our customers, the result is more important than working strictly to a fixed budget, we normally suggest that it is wise to set a budget for the event right at the beginning. It is helpful to us, and normally less difficult for you to know early doors what our parameters and guidelines are for the event. Whatever the budget or situation, you can be assured that we will always do our absolute best to help you get exactly what you want.

Generally, the more information you can give us, the better, and please don’t be afraid to ask for our advice or ideas on anything. We really want to work with you to find the most suitable and cost-effective marquee(s) for your special occasion.

2. Number of Guests

Knowing the number of guests the Kent marquee hire must accomodate comfortably for the purpose of the event is clearly a key aspect in identifying the size of the marquee, and possibly also the type of marquee. You may be prepared to be flexible over exact numbers of guests depending on the what else you have in the marquee, or the cost of the marquee. (As a very general rule of thumb, allow 8 sq ft minimum per person for a standing event, and 15 sq ft per guest minimum if they are seated.)

3. Purpose.

The purpose of your Kent event will have a large say in the size and type of marquee that is ideal. By purpose, we don’t just mean is it for a beer tent, a wedding, a party or a product launch etc, but think about the activities that you want to take place inside the marquee.

Will the guests be sitting or standing ? If food is going to be served, will it be a formal sit down meal or a buffet? Will there be dancing and if so will you have a band or a DJ ? Will staging or raised platforms be required ? Will there be a bar inside the marquee ? Would you like to have the marquee decorated for a wedding, branded for a company, themed for a party ? If the marquee is being used for short-term storage space, what security would you need ? Would a reception area be needed ? Will you need a service tent ? Would seperate areas be needed inside the marquee, eg. staff area or childrens area etc. ?

Obviously the above list is not complete, and the details will change depending on the event you are planning. But it will hopefully get you thinking about what the marquee needs to provide for you to be perfectly suited for your event.

4. Location.

You may have not decided on the actual venue in Kent yet, but the location of your event will affect the kind of marquee that will be the most appropriate. Will the marquee be indoors or outside ? On a hard surface or on grass ? Will the marquee be located on a level surface, or will it go over a sloping surface (eg. a rockery), or an unusual one (eg. swimming pool) ? Is it going to be on your own property, or on somebody else’s, and will permission/approval be needed from other people who might be affected by the marquee structure?
